Interesting fact

In guatemala there national police chief was arrested. The reason the police chief was arrested is because he had been linked to drug trafficking. It was the second time in six months that a national police chief had done this. Also two other police men had been arrested for being connection with a gunfight last April that killed five antidrug police officers. The two officers are Baltazar Gómez, who is the police chief and Nelly Bonilla, who is the drug official.

2010 news

On January 18 2010 there was an earthquake in Guatemala. The earthquake was centered roughly 60 miles south-southeast of Guatemala City it was also on the coastline . The focal point was located 64.2 miles deep. The earthquake did not cause severe damage or injuries but the people who live there felt the ground shaking in Guatemala. Guatemala has had earthquakes before but the worst one was in 1976. It struct at 3 am when most people were sleeping. It killed more than 23,000 people and injured three times as many people. The adobe structures in the area were destroyed by this earthquake. The earthquake in Haiti was 6 days before the earthquake in Guatemala.
